Project Description Country: USA Location: Rancho Bernardo Total Budget: $7,000 Area of Focus: Basic education and literacy Activity Type: Education: Literacy Summary: Funding for purchasing dictionaries to be distributed to third grade students in PUSD, under served students in SD County and Internationall as well as Philippians There are great needs for providing students with their own personal dictionary. It has been proven kids with their own books use them more often and the connection with a book offers advantages over digital format. This grant will be used to purchase dictionaries at a great discount to be distributed directly to students. Club members will be making the presentation to each student while also explaining to the students the role of Rotary in the community. In addition to the Poway Unified School District, where EVERY third grade student will receive their own dictionary, the Club will be sending dictionaries internationally, specifically the Philippians and Micronesia. The project is expected to be completed by December 31, 2015.
