Project Description Country: USA Location: La Mesa and Spring Valley Total Budget: $2,700 Area of Focus: Basic education and literacy Activity Type: Education: Literacy Summary: Provide dictionaries for 3rd graders. We have been doing this literacy outreach for the last 10 years. Its a great project for the teachers , students and families of the La Mesa Spring Valley School District. We will be providing dictionaries to all the 3rd graders in that district. We will have a Rotarian speak about Rotary an service in every class room. It will take about twenty Rotarians to complete this project. Each child can improve reading , vocabulary , word origins and spelling. We always receive thank you notes from the kids. This project should completed in the month of December 2015. Cost of project is $2700.00. The Committee approved a match of $1350. in DDF to match Club funds for this project. 14-Aug-15 System Entry Project approved by the District Approval Committee. 12-Sep-15 System Entry Check for DDF payment issued by Foundation Treasurer. 2-Apr-16 by Marge Cole Club has been informed this grant is past due for closure. Closure date was April 1, 2016. Instructions have been sent to Club on how to close a District Grant. 2-Apr-16 System Entry Project has been implemented and final report uploaded. 6-Apr-16 System Entry Final report approved by the District Approval Committee. 17-Aug-16 by Marge Cole La Mesa RC has returned $227. to Rotary District 5340 for this grant. This was the amount of funds not used for this project. The grant is completed and closed.
