Project Description Country: USA Location: Iowa Park, TX Total Budget: $3,000 Area of Focus: Basic education and literacy Activity Type: Education: General Summary: Two hundred school backpacks filled with school specified supplies for needy students in the Iowa Park Consolidated Independent School District of Iowa Park, TX, USA. Over the past several years various schools at all educational levels (K-12) have identified from 200 to 300 students who have difficulties obtaining the recommended minimal supplies required for the school year, including, but not limited to backpacks, notebooks, pens, pencils, paper, markers, and basic instruments such as compasses, protractors, rulers, erasers, etc. This project will help meet those needs for the upcoming school year 2015-2016. Club members will be involved in the acquisition, preparation, and distribution of these supplies to four separate school facilities in the Iowa Park school district. Approval of this grant helps the Rotary Club of Iowa Park advance the support of education and the alleviation of poverty in a single project.
