Project Description Country: USA Location: Crowley Total Budget: $3,000 Areas of Focus: Maternal and child health, Economic and community development Activity Type: Food/Agriculture: General Summary: Provide healthy food for the weekend to young children that qualify for food assitance programs in their school on weekdays. School counselors identify the children to receive the snack sacks. Church members and community partners shop for goods, pack the gallon ziploc bags and deliver the bags to the schools on Thursdays. As the children leave school Friday,they receive the Snack Sack from their counselor. The project funds will be used to buy food for the snack sacks and Rotarians will assist in packing the sacks one Saturday. We anticipate 6 to 8 Rotarians helping with the packs. The snack program runs throughout the school year and the Rotarians will help pack the sacks sometime in September or October.
