Project Description Country: El Salvador Location: Puerto El Flor Total Budget: $10,000 Area of Focus: Disease prevention and treatment Activity Type: Health: General Summary: Provide access to a medical clinic and health education for families living in extreme poverty The Jungle Village Medical Clinic Project, aims to educate more than 500 families living in conditions of extreme poverty, on how to improve their health through proper medical attention and balanced nutrition. This will result in a decrease of illnesses and deaths from preventable causes, especially among pregnant women and children. The project will allow them access to basic health services, vaccines, medication, pre/post natal care and family planning education. It will not only focus on educating these families about methods of prevention for diseases and health complications, but it will also provide nutritional training and education on the importance of living in a sanitary environment. The project is estimated to run for one year. The goal is to provide the resident families of the Jungle Village a sustainable healthy environment and continue the clinic beyond the completion of the project. The local NGO - OEF has agreed to take over and fund to maintain the clinic after Rotary Project is completed.
