Summary: To provide comfort and grief education to children and teens who have suffered great loss in Alaska
Camp Erin is a camp offered at no charge for children and teens (ages 6 - 17)that have experienced the death of someone close by providing comfort and grief education. Offered by the Hospice of Anchorage, it will take place on the weekend of 09/23/16 to 09/25/16. The camp is packed with activities to help the children bond with others like themselves and allow them to work through their grief in their own way. Spending time with others like themselves helps to normalize their grief and not feel so alone. The grant is to provide teddy bears and t-shirts: the teddy bears not only comfort the campers during the weekend, but go home with them to continue to help them as they grieve and adjust to their loss; the t-shirts are a safety factor - keeping tabs on their whereabouts without interfering with their bonding and activities. Club members will volunteer for various duties and activities.
