The two Glendale Rotary Clubs, Glendale and Glendale West will provide dictionaries to every third grader and third grade teacher at the 14 Glendale Elementary School District Schools. The clubs will come together to put labels with the 4 way test and the Rotary sponsors names in the 1700 student dictionaries. Rotarians in teams of 2 or 3 will personally distribute the dictionaries to third grade students. The Glendale School District's free and reduced lunch rate is over 91% for the district. The majority of children have limited books at home much less a dictionary to support their writing and reading skills.
We plan to order the dictionaries as soon as money is available. We would like to meet in October to put in labels and distribute the dictionaries hopefully by Thanksgiving Break but definitely prior to Winter Break.
Press release will be completed regarding the donation and information will be posted on Club Websites and Social Media Sites.
The project costs is $4222.47. The dictionaries are $2.50 each and we will need 71 boxes of 24 dictionaries, $4,260.00. We are projecting the cost of printing to be about $162.47.
