Project Description Country: USA Location: McCall Total Budget: $1,500 Areas of Focus: Maternal and child health, Economic and community development Activity Type: Community Development: General Summary: A combined community effort to provide firewood for those who stand in need: Widows, the elderly, single mothers with kids at home, and the disadvantaged. The McCall Rotary Club would provide funds to purchase one of the six logging truckloads of wood to provide for those in need of warmth and shelter for the winter. Each year community volunteers and numerous organizations participate in this event, splitting, stacking, and delivering wood to designated needy families. This event is sponsored by the Heartland Hunger and Resource Center (HH&RC). It will take place on the second Saturday in July, 2017. About 30-40 families receive wood from this project. Numerous Rotarians are involved in this project that provides over 100 cords of wood. Some wood is held throughout the winter to be supplied, as needed, We expect project completion by March, 2018.
