Overview:
The Rotary Club of Anthem requests a District Grant of $1,000.00 for the purpose of remodeling one of the men's bathrooms at Teen Challenge drug and alcohol rehab facility in New River, Arizona. Steve DeMar, a member of the Rotary Club of Anthem Foundation Committee, has prepared this District Grant request.
The President of the Rotary Club of Anthem is Don Whitman.
Background:
The purpose of this project is to tear out and rebuild the men's bathroom on the south side of the Teen Challenge dorm room facility in New River, Arizona. This is one of two men's bathrooms in the building that houses 50 men while they are in the residential recovery phase of alcohol and drug rehabilitation. The facilities are very old (estimated at 50 years) and black mold has been seen spreading on and behind the walls of the 4 men's showers. For the health and safety of the men living at this facility, this remodeling project is their top repair priority.
Implementation:
The total budget for the project is $2,882.02. The district grant will provide $1,000 to the project budget, matching the $1,000 from the Rotary Club of Anthem's 2015-2016 budget. The remaining $882.08 will come from the Teen Challenge organization.
The facilities have been inspected and a list of supplies was compiled for this project.
This list was given to Home Depot where a supply quote was made.
The total quote comes to... $ 2,882.02. A copy of the Home Depot quote is attached.
Teen Challenge will provide most of the labor for this project..
Rotary Club of Anthem club members will assist with the planning, demolition, and purchasing for the bathroom remodeling project.
Benefits:
1. Safer and new bathroom facilities for the residents, free of black mold.
2. Upon award of the District Grant, appropriate print, electronic, and social media releases will be made and posted.
3. In addition to explaining the grant in detail, the media releases will provide facts about the Rotary Club of Anthem, Rotary International and Rotary Foundation's charity rating that is the result of its funding model and financial oversight. The intent is to encourage the public to participate in Rotary events and contribute to Rotary Foundation programs and projects.
Timeline:
Estimated to take 3 months from date of funding to project completion.
