The Skate Park, completed in 2015, has been a great addition to our community of McCook, Nebraska as it is an outlet for the underserved youth of our community. However, the park is set in a dark tree lined area. The need to light the park is a priority for the security, safety and well-being of our community. The total community cost of the project is estimated at $7,200 and consists of 3 lights, 3 poles, and an on-demand timer control for the park area. The possibility of solar lighting is also being discussed which will drive the total project cost upward but alleviate some retroactive cost savings due to the "green" lighting method.
The McCook Rotary Club's Skate Park Security Lighting project will purchase 1 light/pole set, and installation (volunteer man-power) of the lights and equipment. The McCook Rotary Club is requesting $1,000 of District Funds which will be paired with our $1,000 contribution. The remainder of the funds needed for to complete the community project will be provided through other avenues of community financing.
This grant application is our 1st priority grant application. The timeline for completion of the project is set for December 2016.
