The community of Alma is on a limited budget but did vote to replace the 50 year old swimming pool with a $2 million dollar new facility. Area organizations have banned together to finish cosmetic work around the outside of the pool and our rotary club voted to purchase and plant shrubs and trees. The city of Alma is working on a landscaping plan to beautify the area around the pool and we would like to assist in the project. We would also like to purchase two park benches for the same area to allow a comfortable place to watch the swimmers. The park benches will cost around $550 each and the trees and shrubs will be about $450.00. The club will be planting the trees and shrubs, assemble the benches and set them. The second part of the project includes purchasing and assembling two aluminum bleachers for the little league ball field in Alma. Spectator seating is limited and this would be a very nice addition to our ball field facilities. The bleachers would be a 4 row bleacher with single footboards. The cost is $899.00 each plus shipping.
Addendum to Project Description (added after the project was signed)
We are planning minor changes on the project that include purchasing the bleachers and make them mobile so that they could actually be utilized at the both the ball park and the swimming pool area. The reasoning was the cost of a simple bench was almost as much as the bleacher and the club decided it would be wiser to have the option of using the seating for either area. The plan is to purchase two bleachers and complete the landscaping around the pool area. The total cost of the project will about $2,248.00. This will reduce the out of club expense to $1,248.00 and still meet the plan for funding.
