Project Description

Country: USA

Location: Lexington, NE

Total Budget: $5,000

Area of Focus: Economic and community development

Activity Type: Community Development: Renovation

Summary: Funding for benches for the public to use for new splash pad parks in Lexington, NE.

The City of Lexington will be starting two splash pad projects in this next year at two separate parks. This is part of the 'Park Beautification Project' in which the goal is not only to improve the appearance of the park but to also offer various activity options for the youth and families to participate in. These splash pads will promote community development of the local parks but also will encourage activity as the splash pads have various splash devices that will allow children/adults to enjoy utilizing. Lexington's community is culturally diverse and this would be a wonderful opportunity to not only encourage activity but also interaction between members of different ethnic backgrounds. One aspect of funding the Lexington Rotary would like to participate in is to provide area benches to these splash pads for families to utilize. These benches would also be marked to recognize our donation which also would allow us to gain public exposure in a high traffic area. Members have been invited by the city to volunteer additional manual labor as the project progresses. This area also serves as an opportunity for additional funding in the future. This project will be starting this summer but the benches could be purchased at any time.
