Summary: The National City PD partners with the Rotary to purchase and deliver various school supplies to 5 elementary schools in the National School District.


The Police coordinate with the Schools and the Stores supplying the materials in order to figure out what exact materials the students need for each particular school, and negotiate with the stores to get the best price. The materials include pencils, pens, paper, Physical education, books, etc. The Police Department then uses several officers, their mascot, and the SWAT van to deliver the school supplies. The school supplies provide needed educational materials for the teachers and students, and having the Police officers deliver them establishes trust and goodwill in a high-crime community that has historically had a challenging relationship with the police. This program helps the Rotary's image as well as the Police while helping out our youth.
