Project Description Country: USA Location: Peoria, Arizona Total Budget: $5,230 Area of Focus: Basic education and literacy Activity Type: Education: Literacy Summary: Provide grade appropriate Student Dictionaries to 1,992 3rd graders in 24 elementary schools within the Peoria Unified School District, in Peoria, AZ, USA. This is a multi-club project between Peoria North Rotary and Peoria Rotary. Each club will be contributing 50% of the total club contribution. The Peoria Unified School District (PUSD) administration has identified the need for, and the benefit of, dictionaries for 3rd graders. This literacy tool will in many cases be the child's only book at home. This is a joint project between Peoria North RC and Peoria RC. The Rotarians will label the inside covers of the dictionaries with a 4-Way Test sticker, and club members, in teams of 2 or 3, will personally distribute the dictionaries to the students in their classrooms. The distribution will be completed by Sept 15, 2016. Project funds will be used solely for the purchase of dictionaries, and the purchase of the 4-Way Test labels.
