Project Description Country: USA Location: Prescott Total Budget: $1,000 Area of Focus: Economic and community development Activity Type: Community Development: General Summary: Purchase of a cargo trailer to assist in community projects such as brush clearing, trail maintenance in the greater Prescott area. This project is a multiple club project that includes Prescott Sunup and Prescott Rotary Clubs. NARA consists of 8 treatment facilities (which are not group homes) for which community service is a portion of their substance abuse recovery program. Rotary is encouraging productive community service by assisting in providing basic tool transportation to various project areas of need within the area. Projects will consist of primarily trail maintenance and brush clearing (currently proposing clearing around senior citizen centers and homes). Granite Creek Trail is a prominent urban trail in need of consistent maintenance which the recovery centers can provide as a community service, which corresponds with their current programs. Thus the project will focus their efforts in the areas of most need to the community and provide necessary program therapy and achievement. Recovery facilities in Prescott have become prominent to the point where Prescott has become the largest recovery community per capita in the western US. Rotary grant will assist helping the recovery community to raise their profile in the community as productive citizens. Beneficiary will own and maintain trailer after project initiation and will contribute 50% of project cost.
