Project Description

Country: USA

Location: Boise, ID

Total Budget: $6,000

Areas of Focus: Basic education and literacy, Economic and community development

Activity Type: Community Development: General

Summary: Interpretive signs for the last section of the Boise Greenbelt

Providing a two-panel weatherproof interpretive sign for public viewing. The sign will explain the historical significance of finishing the Greenbelt after 50 years. It will also give details regarding the Sons and Daughters of Idaho Pioneers in the 1930's monument. Estimated completion by October 2017. The Eagle-Garden City club members are partnering with the Boise Metro and Centennial clubs to assist the City Parks and Rec in designing and siting the signs. The signs are just a small component of a larger Rotary project to build a new public park including bicycle pump stations and benches along the Greenbelt.

Addendum to Project Description (added after the project was signed)

Due to delays beyond club control, the project can't be finished. All clubs purchased dictionaries and provided them to third graders and their teachers in the Treasure Valley. We provided dictionaries to 1497 students in 22 schools. Members from each club delivered the dictionaries to the classrooms and made presentations about the content of the dictionaries and what Rotary does for the community. The total cost of the dictionaries was $3900.

On 8/10/18, TRF approved the diversion of grant funds from the greenbelt signage project to The Dictionary Project done by the clubs in 2016-17. The sign project couldn't be finished due to delays beyond the control of the clubs. The district grant committee reviewed the proposal and agreed to the reallocation of DDF in accordance with its grant terms from that year. Eagle Rotary received all the DDF for the grant & now needs to distribute as follows: $755 to Boise Metro, $1070 to Boise Centennial & $645 back to Rotary D5400 Grants. Chart showing reassignment of DDF is located in the documents area of the grant. Please make these payments before 8/31/18. Call DRFC Marianne Barker 208 308-5617 if questions.
