Project Description Country: USA Location: National City, CA Total Budget: $4,000 Area of Focus: Basic education and literacy Activity Type: Education: General Summary: Provide back-to-school supplies to the children at ten elementary schools in National City, CA The National City Police Deparmtment (NCPD) participates in a yearly fundraising partnership with the National City Low Rider Community, and the National City Rotary Club to purchase school supplies for the students of the National City School District (NCSD). The NCSD servies 6,700 students at ten schools. During the current economic down-turn, NCSD has incurred yearly budget deficits making it more difficult for teachers and parents to provide basic school supplies. After the supplies are purchase (hopefully in September), NCPD School Resource Officers, and National City Rotarians, working directly with the NCSD principals and teachers will disperse the supplies to the classrooms and students. On Thursday, 27 September 2012, NC Rotary Club President Bob Jackson presented $2000.00 check to the National City Police Department. 2. Much needed school supplies were provided to their principals.
