There is a meeting scheduled with the Rotary grant committee members and the medical center to discuss the purchase of the final gift cards. There has been an overwhelming request for help. To date with the $4000 already spent, this grant has distributed 13 commuter book gift cards (good for 5 round trips) and 18 single round trip gift cards. There have been 23 Catalina Island residents to date who have been able to travel for medical, dental, surgical, and speciality care thanks to the support of the Avalon Rotary Club and District 5320. The Medical Center staff, physicians, and especially qualified recipients have been very grateful. The Avalon Rotary committee has been touched by the experience of being able to provide this much needed gift.
