Mission Viejo Rotary has sponsored the Door of Faith Orphanage in Mexico since 1988. We have been in constant communication with the Orphanage throughout the years with various projects and were informed by the District staff at Rotary Foundation training that a participating Mexican Rotary Club would not be necessary. With over 115 children and 20 voluntary staff the kitchen is in dire need of a new oven range and low burners for large pots (cost
$3,200). They are also in need of two new washing machines with as many as thirty loads done daily (cost $1,600). In addition, the children are required to wear uniforms in order to attend school and church ($1,000 at $1O per child).
Addendum to Project Description (added after the project was signed)
We request to increase the amount to be used to purchase school uniforms and shoes for the children from $1,000 to $3,048. This will increase the Club Contribution from $2,900 to $3,924, and the request for District DDF from $2,900 to $3,924. The total project cost increases from $5,800 to $7,848. There is a continuing need to buy mandatory uniforms and shoes for the children to attend public schools. The reason for the addendum stems from the failure of a project of the Rotary Club of San Juan Capistrano at Camp Pendleton to qualify for funding. Our club had originally committed $1,024 of our DDF eligibility to this project. We now ask that this amount be added to our project, with a matching of funds by our club.
