Summary: Assist High School Seniors plan their future

Our Vocational Day Career Symposium offers students a chance to gain knowledge and insight into how to make one of the most important decisions of their life. Through messages of hope and inspiration, they were not told "what" to choose as a vocation, but they were shown through real life experiences "how" to choose their vocation.—how to follow their passion. They will be showned how their choices and attitude determine their destiny, not their circumstances. The day will give the students a chance to discuss the "real world" with Rotarians and successful entrepreneurs. Experts in different fields are invited to discuss with the students on an active hands-on manner the different careers and professional jobs that they could choose for their future. Vocational Day 2016 is a day program designed for high school juniors and seniors where they hear from prominent leaders in the community about their careers and leadership. This will be held at the Capistrano Valley District office board room and for some students will be the first time these students see the district office that oversees their schools!

Rotarians will coordinate all activities with the school directors, teachers and students to make the event sucessfull. A warm welcome from our Rotary President who explained what Rotary is and how they could get involved will open the event. The Superintendent will speak briefly followed by two incredible speakers then we will form round tables with the students to discuss professional futures and give the students a change to asked great questions, participated in raffles prizes during the breaks. Everyone will be treated to a delicious breakfast prepared by the schools own Culinary Arts Program! It provides our members and the culinary student program to have this opportunity as many of them are looking for this as a career path to do their first catering event! We had the High School Culinary institute prepare breakfast and cater the event for the day. Providing vocational experience to about 12 additional students.

We expect the participation of approximately 80 attendees which included students, teachers and Rotary Members. The School District board room can accommodate more students. Rotarians and school authorities will arrange for 1 busloads of students from 4 different High Schools plus teachers and special guests.
