Project Description

Country: USA

Location: Escondido

Total Budget: $6,000

Areas of Focus: Basic education and literacy, Economic and community development

Activity Type: Education: General

Summary: The project will support youth development and education through workforce skills development and High School Equivalency and Diploma Completion in Escondido, California.

The Escondido Education C.O.M.P.A.C.T. is a Community Based Organization that has been serving Escondido's underprivileged youth for over 20 years to help them with workforce development skills, secondary education, and post-secondary education. The C.O.M.P.A.C.T. did not get reauthorized for their grant funding and has had to cut back their program. The District Grant would allow the C.O.M.P.A.C.T. to continue to provide services to the students of Escondido for the upcoming fiscal year beginning July 1, 2016 - June 30, 2017. While this grant does not make up the shortfall of funds it will help shore up some funding gaps as they apply for new funding.

Club members would have the opportunity to tutor and mentor students in the program. Club Members would also be able to participate in Job Shadow Day were members would be able to have students shadow them at their place of employment or business. Members would also be able to participate in C.O.M.P.A.C.T. sponsored/planned community service projects throughout the year. There would be multiple avenues for members to connect and work with C.O.M.P.A.C.T. students
