Project Description Country: Mexico Location: Tecate Total Budget: $24,000 Area of Focus: Disease prevention and treatment Activity Type: Health: Disease Summary: A specialized set of instrumentation will be provided for the performance of Orthognathic Surgery for Children with Skeletal Dentofacial Deformities There are many children who have now been treated with cleft lip and palate surgery through the efforts of TSF and Smiles International Foundation projects. Currently, there are no followup-finalizing surgery instruments available for their treatment of the skeletal dentofacial deformities of the their jaws making the job of eating properly nearly impossible. This project will begin the purchase of the instrumentation set for this to become a reality for them. The members of the Rotary club of Carlsbad are involved with participation in this project with attending three of the annual clinics in Tecate and working together with the rotary Club of Tecate throughout the year. Furthermore, the members also participate with the Smiles of Los Cabos which will send the cases for this Orthognathic Surgical Treatment in partnership of all Smiles Projects. Our district now covers the entire Baja Peninsula for their treatment of Facial Cleft Deformities in Children and Adults. Soon, we should be able to claim a bi-district project of Baja-Smiles with District 4100 and 5340.
