Summary: Funding a Teen Study Room at the new library to be built in Downtown Arlington.
Arlington Public Libraries is working to rebuild a centerpiece of Downtown Arlington and this is a big opportunity for Rotary to help. The George W. Hawkes Downtown Library is underway and will be built within the next three years. As George W. Hawkes was a past president of our Club, we see this opportunity to help fund a Teen Study Room not only as a way to collaborate with our city on a big project, but it is also an opportunity to introduce Rotary to a huge portion of the Arlington community. The goal is to raise $25,000 overall for the naming rights. With this, we can also provide literature about Rotary, and help promote safe education space for the youth in our local school districts. If we can start with a matched District Grant of $2,500, we intend to raise the remaining funds through our Foundation, membership giving, and gifts from others within and around our community.
