Project Description Country: USA Location: Decatur, Texas Total Budget: $3,000 Area of Focus: Basic education and literacy Activity Type: Education: Scholarships Summary: Decatur Rotary will award three $1,000 scholarships to graduating seniors from Decatur High School. Interested graduating seniors are asked to submit an application indicating need and future plans. In addition, applicants write an essay on their definition of Rotary's motto, "Service Above Self." Club members will read and rate the applications. Three students will be selected as scholarship recipients. Club members will attend Decatur High School Honors Night to present scholarship certificates. The check for all three scholarships will be presented to Decatur High School, to be disbursed to the colleges/universities of the students' choice upon verification of enrollment.
