Summary: Clubhouse Homework and Teen Room Upgrades


Overview: Clubhouses are instrumental in providing youth a place to participate in programs and high yield activities designed to promote academic success, good character and citizenship as well as healthy lifestyle. The club atmosphere shapes this experience for Club kids. The existing room designated for teens is lacking in appeal and functionality and requires minor presentation system construction, attention to acoustics and the purchase of furnishings to attract and retain middle school and high school students. The existing Homework room has been newly outfitted with educational furnishings but is in need of similar presentation system and acoustic solutions as teen room to enhance the room and promote an energetic learning environment. Support is needed to make these capital improvements.

Goals:

1. Assist teens in personalizing a space that attracts older Club Kids

2. Provide an opportunity for the community to work side by side with youth

3. Augment newly furnished homework room to address aesthetics and acoustics

Project: Engage youth to participate in design and construction process to foster ownership of the space and allow for mentorship opportunities. Timeline and scope will be based on funding received and volunteer scheduling.

Spending Plan

Building Materials (Lumber, plywood, bolts/nuts, whiteboard, masonite, chalkboard, cork, paint, etc.) $1,600.00

Flooring ( carpet tile, exercise mats, rugs, etc.) $800.00

Acoustical Treatments (soundboard, denim insulation, moving blankets, grommets, studio foam panels) $1,500.00

Furniture (stools, chairs, computer bench, etc.) $2,100.00

Design Ideation & Drawings $1,200 In Kind

*Funding received above project budget will be used to purchase computer hardware/software and portable sound/mic systems for presentations and performances.
