Project Description Country: USA Location: Newport Beach CA Total Budget: $3,000 Area of Focus: Economic and community development Activity Type: Community Development: Renovation Summary: Environmental Nature Center - Butterfly Habitat Support in Newport Beach, California The Environmental Nature Center is the only habitat and educational center for children in Orange County, CA. The project encompasses repairing and upgrading the decomposed granite pathways, new plantings and native butterfly larvae for the butterfly house, and general refurbishment and repair of the butterfly house. The project will take place from January 2017 - March 2017. The members of the Rotary Club of Newport-Balboa will volunteer their time under the supervision on the ENC staff to refurbish and repair the house. Some Rotarians will be trained as docents. The grant monies will be divided $500 for the decomposed granite, $2000 for the plants and improvements and $500 for the butterfly larvae.
