Project Description

Country: USA

Location: Morrill, NE

Total Budget: $1,700

Areas of Focus: Basic education and literacy, Community economic development

Activity Type: Community Development: General

Summary: Large Screen, Extra Wide Projector, and Sound System for Community Projection Needs

The Rotary Club of Morrill, NE is applying for a Centennial Grant.

The Morrill Schools, Morrill Public Library, The Morrill Economic Development Group, the American Legion, The Rotary Club of Morrill, and other Morrill Groups from time to time have need of a large screen for indoor and outdoor use and a EW Projector with enough lumens to have a vivid projection. This was evident at our Rotary Club of Morrill's Annual Fund raisor held on October 22, 2016. We had more than 100 people attend the function at the American Legion Facility. We showed several videos promoting Rotary International, our Rotary Club of Morrill, and Polio Plus. We had borrowed a screen and projector from the school, it was only about 6' x 6'. The projection size was not large enough for the venue; which significantly impaired the impact and attention of the group.

This package would allow us to loan it to all community groups desiring to have large events at the legion, in the gyms at the schools, in churches or even movie nights at the park. The screen has a 200" diagonal, which is 14.5' wide and 8' high. The portable 2000 Watt system is complete with microphone, bluetooth capacity, two speakers and stands.

Our intent is to enhance the impact of every community organization. When people come to Morrill we desire for them to sense energy and excitement. We believe that this project will result in community development as those who attend our functions see a progressive attitude and high level of support from the Rotary Club of Morrill.

The screen and projector have been purchased and were used for a community funeral of a 17 year old senior in high school who died in a tragic car accident three weeks into her senior year. Over 1000 people attended her funeral and the screen and projector provided the possibility of all those in attendance to view her memorial video.
