Project Description Country: USA Location: Greeley, Colorado Total Budget: $2,000 Area of Focus: Maternal and child health Activity Type: Education: General Summary: This request is part of a District effort to provide regional scholarships to students who have completed their first year in college in the Weld County Rotary Club region. The Weld Rotary Clubs worked with Aims Community College in January 2017 to find a student whose study aligned with one of Rotary's focus areas in order to support his/her financial need. Aims sent out an application to all students as well as the faculty. A group of four Weld Rotarians representing Greeley area clubs then reviewed the applicants and selected one student whose study is in the nursing field and will be traveling to an African to support health/medical needs as part of her studies. The two thousand scholarship will support this student's study and travel costs for the 2017 school year. The recipient will attend a Rotary meeting at each Weld club and share her story as well as impact of the scholarship by the end of Rotary's 2018 fiscal year. The Weld regional scholarship committee will coordinate her attendance at each of the six clubs.
