(2nd Priority Project to Sharing Warmth of Rotary)
Living in a rural area just 8 miles from an extremely high crime and poverty stricken area eventually poses risks on the entire community. The volume of tourism and people unfamiliar with our area also creates the potential for lost people or children out in the Sandhills. Only through active prevention and proper resources can a community remain safe and prevent conflict. Imagine an officer was able to catch a vehicle license plate number an abducted child was reported in because they had binoculars.
Rotary Club Valentine would like to help support victims, prevent crimes and potentially find criminals hiding or running. With the purchase of enough binoculars for each cruiser the Valentine Rotary Club can potentially impact our community on a daily basis.
Ideally we would like to present the local law enforcement with their new equipment as soon as possible. Since the summer months are approaching we would like to complete the project by end of July 17. Rotary members will familiarize themselves with proper use and strategies of binoculars. Members will train any law enforcement officers as necessary on their new equipment to ensure their use and longevity in preventing or fighting crime.
