Project Description Country: USA Location: Boise Total Budget: $500 Areas of Focus: Peace and conflict prevention/resolution, Basic education and literacy, Economic and community development Activity Type: Education: General Summary: Field trips and Program Supplies for Refugee Students in Boise The Integration Specialist (Jodi Larson-Farrow) at Agency for New Americans (a 501c organization) works with refugee students at Borah High school on a weekly basis and also does a Women's class on a regular basis. The purpose of both of the classes(that include field trips) is to help new Americans learn about human rights, American culture, rights in the work place, parenting in the U.S., coping skills for dealing with past trauma, domestic violence/sexual assault issues and to become familiar and integrate to their new community.The grant money would be used to pay for costs of these field trips (example - tickets to the zoo, Discovery Center, Boise Aquarium, transportation costs, other program supply needs). Rotarians would be involved by helping out in the classes and doing preparation work.
