Summary: The Foothills Rotary Club of Fort Collins, Colorado will assemble 11,750 meals consisting of rice lentils, dehydrated vegtables and vitamins to areas considered of highest need by the Rise Against Hunger organization.
The Rise Against Hunger (formerly known as Stop Hunger Now) organization has worked with Rotary Clubs across the nation and, most recently, with participants at the Rotary International Conference in Seoul, South Korea. Our club will purchase the ingredients, secure the project site and recruit volunteers who will assemble the meals. Rise Against Hunger will provide a facilitator and the equipment. Over 70% of the meals go to support transformational development programs such as school feeding programs, early childhood development programs, vocational training programs, orphanages and medical clinics. Another 20% is reserved for immediate response to crisis situations including natural disasters, conflict and famine events.
The meals cost .34 cents per meal at a total cost of $3,500. We plan to do the project in October of 2017.
The Foothills Rotary Club respectfully requests $1,000 and our club will commit to the remaining $2,500 to complete the project.
