Project Description Country: USA Location: La Mirada, CA Total Budget: $6,000 Area of Focus: Basic education and literacy Activity Type: Education: General Summary: La Mirada needy children will participate in a shopping event to get warm clothes to increase self esteem and better grades. The Rotary Club of La Mirada will sponsor the Eileen Wade "Clothes for Kids" shopping event. About 40 children will arrive at Marshalls Department Store in La Mirada in the morning and shop with members of the Rotary Club, other community members, and City staff and public safety personnel, spending approximately $125 per child on shoes, jackets, pants, shirts, etc. Children are then taken to the La Mirada Activity Center for an intergenerational party with seniors and a visit with Santa. Planning for this project begins in August and culminates with the shopping event early December.
