A brand new $10 million county library is set to open in Artesia in October 2017, replacing the current library. To mark this celebratory occasion, our Rotary Club will use the matching grant in 3 avenues towards the library; new children's books, 1 hour storytelling or science-related workshops, and new equipment.
Each book that is purchased with our grant will contain a donation label on the inside cover of the book. For any workshops/storytelling sessions that we sponsor, the Rotary Club will be recognized on the flyers and announcements. Aside from manually placing the labels inside the books, our members will participate by holding periodically scheduled storytelling/read-aloud sessions with children throughout the course of this year, preferably with the books that we purchased. We will also be looking to participate in the grand opening festivities of the library. We will host some of our meetings in the upcoming year at the new library in the new conference room. Lastly, we may allot a portion of the grant towards new equipment that the library may need, items that may have been left off the original purchase list such as a projector, screen, etc.
