Need: there is a lack of ability among students with special needs to communicate with their non-disabled peers.
$4,000 will be used to purchase 16 iPads to implement a Phonics program to improve student communication.
Timeline: provide iPads this coming August; the beginning of the 2017-18 school year.
Rotary Members Involvement: One of our Rotary Club members is a Special Education teacher at Arrowhead Elementary. This teacher will provide regular updates to the Rotary Clubs participating in this Grant. Other members will be there to present the iPads to the school, as well as follow up with regular visits to see the childrens' progress.
