Summary: Meals on Wheels for seniors in Panajachel Guatemala
In rotary year 2016-2017, Highland Village Rotary and partners purchased a delivery truck to begin meals-on-wheels in Panajachel. Our goal is to raise sufficient funds and continue delivering meals to homebound seniors who otherwise would not get a regular meal. Many suffer unfortunately from malnutrition, existing on a daily handful of corn and a tortilla. Costs to provide 20-25 seniors a meal daily including food, cook, driver, vehicle fuel, is $6000 annually. Our club member, Gavin Fleten, travels to Panajachel each year to continue this service project on behalf of Highland Village Rotary Club. We partner with the local Lake Atitalan Club and the non-profit MayanFamilies.org (Mayan Families)
