Project Description

Country: USA

Location: Tempe, AZ

Total Budget: $1,250

Area of Focus: Economic and community development

Activity Type: Community Development: Renovation

Summary: Planting trees on public lands in and around Tempe for community development and provide carbon offsets for ASU's climate neutrality goals.

We will be planting trees for each of our members to assist in Rotary International President Elect, Ian Riseley's, goal of planting 1.2 million trees for each member of Rotary International. We are hoping that this project can also serve as a template for other clubs to meet their portion of this goal.

The 30 trees will be planted in and around Tempe, Arizona in public spaces. Each tree will cost approximately $50. Additional costs will include tools, equipment, soil, refreshments, coordination support for our expert non-profit partner, Trees Matter, and potentially the rental of water trucks.

We have scheduled this project for October 7, 2017 and are coordinating with the City of Tempe to locate the best placement for our 30 trees.
