Project Description Country: USA Location: Chula Vista CA Total Budget: $1,000 Area of Focus: Basic education and literacy Activity Type: Education: General Summary: Train for Change program trans teachers that serve in some of the most impoerished villages across Honduras The "Train for Change" program trains teachers that serve in some of the most impoverished villages across Honduras. Students Helping Honduras (SHH), a non-profit that has been working in the El Progreso, Yoro region for over a decade, will have completed 40 school buildings by the end of 2017. Our program aims to increase educational outcomes for the students in these new buildings by empowering their teachers with the skills they need to raise the next generation of Honduran leaders. As SHH works to reach their goal of 1000 schools, we will be working alongside them creating system wide change that will impact over 1 million students. CVSR has teamed up with "Train for Change" to assist with sending school supplies and Spanish language textbooks to Honduras for the schools. They have also worked in conjunction with the Chula Vista Elementary School District to provide access to Spanish speaking educators to assist with the educator training in Honduras.
