Project Description Country: Chechnya Location: Grozny Total Budget: $1,500 Area of Focus: Basic education and literacy Activity Type: Education: General Summary: Provide books and winter clothing to three refugee families. The Rotary Club of Del Mar, California USA has partnered with the Rotary Club of Grozny, Chechnya for the past four years in a humanitarian effort to supply returning refugee families with school books for their children and warm clothing. These families are returning to their homeland after some 20 years of war that decimated all of Chechnya. Our District Grant will provide funds to assist three families. The amount of $500 is what the Grozny club spends on school books and clothing for one entire family. The Rotary Club of Grozny will provide each family with the necessary books for their children to learn in their poor school system. It will also provide warm clothes to keep these families warm during their harsh winters.
