Summary: 50 children in need of adoptive homes meet potential forever families at a Matching Event in Abilene, Texas, United States
Local Child Protective Service workers have identified up to fifty children in need of adoptive placement in Abilene and the surrounding 60 counties. Each of these kids are currently in foster care and need a forever family. Many of these kids are older, which can make finding adoptive families challenging. Currently, a Matching Event occurs every other year through the Ballinger Rotary Club, however CPS has requested this event occur every year to increase the number of matched adoptions. Because the need for successful adoptive homes for children is great, Abilene Southwest Rotary is planning to host the Matching Event in April, 2018. Abilene Southwest Rotary club will coordinate a party for adoptive families to meet foster children who are elligible for adoption. The event will take place at a local facility with bowling and arcade game and has been named "Strike a Match." Local CPS Adoption Staff are working with Abilene Southwest Rotary and have agreed to invite the potential families and foster children. Abilene Southwest Rotary will provide the venue, meal, decorations, t-shirts, and volunteers for the event to take place April 7, 2018. Our Strike a Match event will bring families and kids together for a day where they can interact in a low pressure environment in order to establish relationships and ultimately create forever families.
