The Denton Rotary Club is working with a Non-Profit agency call Communities in Schools for North Texas (CISNT). CISNT's mission is to prevent students from dropping out of school. A new project they have is called "Lunch with a Leader". The program consists of community leaders having lunch once a month with 4th and 5th grade students that have been identified by the school as leaders but may not be leading in a positive way. We meet in a group setting each month, but each student is matched with an adult mentor. We discuss subjects related to being a good leader. This is the second year we have been in the program. We received very positive response from the school after the first year. The teachers saw marked improvements in the students grades and attitudes. We have a group of men that meet at one school and a group of ladies that meet at different elementary school.
We are asking for funds to help cover lunch expense for one or more months and for expenses related to a field trip for the students and mentors.
