Project Description Country: USA Location: Greeley, CO Total Budget: $2,000 Area of Focus: Water, sanitation and hygiene Activity Type: Education: Scholarship Summary: This district regional student scholarship is to provide educational funds for a local student entering college and studying water/sanitation engineering. he purpose of the District 5440 Regional Student College Scholarship is to promote the education of promising students in one of the six Rotary International Areas of Focus. The need is to provide a greater workforce that will serve in one of these areas of focus. Rotary clubs in District 5440 had the opportunity to nominate senior high school students to apply for this scholarship and complete the necessary paperwork. Each applicant included their student resume, their area of study, and an original essay about the application of Rotary's Four Way Test to the student's past, present, and future. The District 5440 Scholarship Committee is composed of rotary club representatives who scored the student applications. Grant Rivera, a student in the Greeley-Evans School District, who will be studying Environmental Engineering at Colorado State University in the fall of 2018 was selected. The funds will be given to the student or the school after May 14, 2018 by the local rotary club. The local rotary club will submit a report on the student scholarship and include any receipts.
