Summary: Processing and packaging of meat to be donated to the St John's Food Pantry in Valentine, Ne.

The St John's Food Pantry serves the Valentine, Nebraska community and surrounding area. The Food Pantry serves over 1,500 people annually. In addition to canned and dry goods, the pantry provides its clients with some meat products.

The Ft Niobrara Wildlife Refuge near Valentine, Nebraska harvests a number of elk each year as part of its herd management plan. The animals are evaluated for herd health management purposes and the meat is donated to one of the local food pantries. The Valentine Rotary Club is requesting district grant funds to help pay for the processing and packaging of the meat from 3 elk in the fall of 2018. The Rotarians will negotiate a price for the processing and deliver the packaged meat to the St. John's Food Pantry for distribution to families in need in the Valentine area.
