Rotary Club of La Mirada will provide several $1,000 and $500 scholarships for graduating high school students at La Mirada High School. It is anticipated that the majority of the scholarship recipients will be from the Interact Club sponsored by the Rotary Club of La Mirada. Application forms will be distributed on campus by Rotary Club members. Applications will be screened and applicants selected by Rotary Club of La Mirada members based upon a combination of academic performance, economic need, and demonstrated activity in terms of community service. Applications will be accepted in April 2013 and recipients will be selected in late May 2013. Scholarships will be presented by Rotary Club members in June 2013.
Addendum to Project Description (added after the project was signed)
The Rotary Foundation did not allow post-secondary scholarships in the year 2012-2013 so we are substituting a Holiday Shopping Spree for Needy Children. Twelve Rotarians took 40 students shopping at Marshalls Department store for clothing from a shopping list prepared by their parents.
