Our Club is proud to be participating in an inaugural program in our community for Emergency Preparedness. Although we all hope that nothing happens, Huntington Beach is a high risk community with two strong flood zones, a higher likeliness of earthquakes and damage, and a higher risk of a Tsunami than in other communities. The VOAD Program has been designed so that groups like ours can step into action to help with emergency supplies, food, and medical care in the event something does happen. We have set up an active committee which is working with the City of Huntington Beach, and other organizations, to develop this plan in more detail and work through the appropriate logistics. We propose a budget of $2,270 in order to purchase a combination of emergency supplies, kits, and help the City stock "long shelf life" food items, emergency water packets, and first aid supplies in chosen Community locations.
