Project Description

Country: Mexico

Location: Tijuana

Total Budget: $3,000

Area of Focus: Water and sanitation

Activity Type: Water: Supply/Access

Summary: Solar Powered Water filter system for native Kumiai tribe members

Isolated native Kumiai tribe members need access to local source of potable water, Tijuana Kumiai Rotary club would like to implement a solar powered pumping system for water filtration.

Currently native Kumiai tribe members must walk 4 miles round trip in order to get any water from the only water source available which is a contaminated water hole, (not a stream nor river). Same water source used by wild animals to drink and bathe.

With this project the Kumiai community will have potable drinking water, avoiding any Waterborne diseases which currently are very common to detriment of the community.
