From April through May 2014, Peoria Rotary and AZ E Club are planning on having a one day preventive project to present the Josh the Otter bilingual book with CD. We will have the Peoria Fire Department, First things First, and other agency that prevent drowning of children from the ages of 2-4. We will hold this event at a park in the Peoria Parks and Rec. With books that we have left we will target preschools and make arrangements to present this program to the preschoolers. Living in Arizona, there are a lot of deaths due to drowning. This program will provide literacy since each children receives the book and CD and is also provides health needs to prevent drowning.

PR will be handle through Glendale Star, Peoria Times, Fire Department, Club website and other media venues including First Thing First.

The project is in full swing. We are having meetings regularly and have a place for this event finalized. The E Club of AZ is working with us on this project. The fire and police departments are being contacted to confirm their participation at the event. We are working with other organization to spread the word about this event. We hope to have 300 to 500 pre school children attend.

We had to change the date to May 24, 2014. The Sunrise High School pool opens on that day and we will have more attendance and be able to present Josh the Otter presentation to more children. We are working with First Thing First and the City of Peoria to get the word out to more families.

We are set for this event. We know the deadline for submitting reports is May 31, 2014 and they will be submitted right after the event. We have gotten the City of Peoria involved and well as the fire and police department. We are getting a lot of support from the Peoria Unified School District. We will be holding the event at Sunrise Pool which is part of the Peoria School District. It is the first day that the pool will be open to the community so a lot of children will be attending.
