Project Description Country: USA Location: Fallbrook Total Budget: $1,400 Area of Focus: Basic education and literacy Activity Type: Education: General Summary: Supply water to a planter boxes we previously installed and fence area off at MAAC head start project We installed 4 planter boxes last year at the MAAC head start program, which is a non profit preschool and daycare for young children. Irrigation of the planter boxes has been done by carrying water from a hose bib in watering cans by the children and we would like to bring water closer to the planter boxes by installing a rain collection tank by the boxes and they could fill the watering cans from that. The administrator could fill the tank periodically with the hose. Also we would like to install some stepping stones on a slope so the children are safer when climbing around the boxes. Also to keep the children safe, we want to install a fence around the boxes so that the instructors can keep the children corralled while they are tending to the vegetables and flowers. The club members will be installing these items. There is some concern with having a tank of water in the area where children gather. Piping the water to the area has been considered, but with the concrete that would need to be cut, the costs are over our budget.
