Project Description Country: USA Location: Kemmerer, WY Total Budget: $4,889 Area of Focus: None Activity Type: Community Development: Construction/Renovation Summary: The Kemmerer Interact Club and Rotary Club of Kemmerer will partner with the City of Kemmerer and the Kemmerer Lions Club to construct a shaded concrete pad adjacent to the outdoor pool and for community members in Kemmerer, WY. The City of Kemmerer operates an outdoor pool at Archie Neil Park. The Kemmerer Interact Club has planned and will administer this project that includes removal of a tree and replacement of the grassy area adjacent to the pool with a concrete pad and a shade structure. The tree provides little shade to pool patrons and its leaves clog up the pool filters. The grass has to be mowed and creates a messy area for swimmers when they leave the water and linger beside the pool. The new structure will provide both shade and a clean easy-to-maintain poolside area for patrons. Interact students presented the project proposal to the Kemmerer City Council and received approval pending the club's receipt of funding for the concrete pad and awning. The City committed to remove the tree and maintain the improvements. Interact students will distribute firewood from the tree to individuals identified as in need. After hearing a proposal from Interact, the Kemmerer Lions Club committed to fund the awning shade structure in the amount of $3,376.00. This grant request is for $1,000 to match $513 from the Kemmerer Rotary Club for installation of the concrete pad. Work will start in the fall of 2018 as weather allows and will be completed in the spring of 2019, prior to June 30, 2019.
