Project Description Country: USA Location: Fort Collins, Colorado Total Budget: $18,000 Area of Focus: Peace and conflict prevention/resolution Activity Type: Peace: General Summary: National speakers brought to Colorado State University, Ft. Collins, Colorado for peace initiative Ft. Collins Rotary clubs intend to bring (2) nationally recognized speakers to CSU in Ft. Collins to do a presentation regarding reconciliation. Specifically Daryl Davis and Christian Piccolini. Daryl is the subject in the documentary " Accidental Courtesy" who opens discussion with KKK members to create a dialogue of open mindedness. He eventually allows up to 25 members to relinquish their membership in the organization. Christian Piccolini - reformed Neo Nazi skin head, author of "Life after Hate". speaks of his journey out of the organization. Our goal is to show that through open discussion and dialogue, ideas can change. Allow an opportunity for both of these individuals to demonstrate this by being at CSU in person. Addendum to Project Description (added after the project was signed) The presentation has been revised to just one speaker, Daryl Davis, for this event. Hope to do more Key Speaker events in the future. Revised Budget has been uploaded.
