Project details:
The group Mission II Haiti including Kearney Dawn Rotarian Roger Hoffman need $2010.00 in support of their on-going work in Haiti and specifically the 2KW Solar System, a Haitian solar project. The Mission II Haiti has been involved in water and sanitation projects in Haiti in previous years, and they are expanding their work to include this new project, a solar energy project, that will assist with the well water repairs. Additionally, there is an economic and community development component because local Haitians are enlisted and trained to assist in the well water repairs. This new project is global, and it is sustainable. The solar energy generated will be used to light facilities and power tools used in water well development and repairs.
The Mission II Haiti group has purchased a small piece of land (100 feet by 150 feet) neat Cap Haitien in Haiti. The group has placed a 20 foot container on the land to be used to store supplies and a work area for water well repair. Mission II Haiti has constructed a small house (14 feet by 16 feet) to house four (4) workers. The solar system is needed to provide electrical power for lights and to power tools.
Support provided for the project by Kearney Dawn Rotary via vote of members on 04-17-13.
